As the daughter of a Salvadoran refugee and a Mexican immigrant, Denise proudly honors her Latinx-American heritage and her SoCal upbringing in her writing. She studied journalism at California State University, Fullerton, and contributed to OC Weekly where her stories received national coverage. Currently, she is a contributing writer for L.A. Taco and the host of the podcast Viewz with Dee De La Cruz.
